Globe selects Nokia for softswitch upgrade

Filipino mobile operator Globe Telecom has awarded Nokia a national supply contract to upgrade its circuit switched core network, as part of its drive towards fixed-mobile convergence. The Finnish vendor will renew the core network and upgrade the mobile switching centre with its Nokia MSC Server mobile softswitch. The deal also includes the supply of its multitechnology Nokia NetAct(TM) network and service management solution, Nokia Voice over IP Server, and Nokia IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). Work on the upgrade has already begun.
