Telecom Personal, the mobile arm of Telecom Argentina, is phasing out its 2G TDMA technology this year and expects to end 2007 with almost all subscribers using GSM, reports BNamericas, quoting the company's marketing director Guillermo Rivaben. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, Personal ended March 2007 with 9.3 million subscribers, 91% of which are on the cellco’s GSM network, with the remainder using the TDMA system, which was first launched in March 2000. The company expects to end 2007 with over eleven million clients, and according to Rivaben, its current ARPU is about ARS40 (USD13).
