Alcatel-Lucent and neuf Cegetel have signed a frame agreement for the deployment of further fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) networks in Paris. Under the deal Alca-Lu will roll out a gigabit passive optical network (GPON) solution to enable neuf Cegetel to offer very high speed access and services to more than 100,000 apartments in the capital. The expansion contract forms part of a Paris social housing office initiative to bridge the so-called ‘digital divide’ in Paris. As a result of the FTTH deployment, the alternative operator will be able to offer triple-play services including HDTV.
