The Sony Ericsson M600i is a new smartphone based on the top-end Sony Ericsson P990. Aimed at Blackberry lovers, the M600i focuses firmly on messaging and connectivity feautures, offering suport for no less than nine different push email services, but at the expense of a camera and WiFi support.

Sony Ericsson have announced the new Sony Ericsson K618 3G mobile phone. The K618 is being pitched as a jack of all phones - appealing to business users and home users alike with a good range of business solutions and multimedia apps.

Japanese company Yamaha, well known for its 3-axis geomagnetic sensor IC chips, as well as the odd motorbike, has announced the YAS529, a new, tiny 3-axis chip that acts as a compass for devices such as mobile phones. The YAS529 is, naturally, the world’s smallest such chip, measuring just 2mm x 2mm x 1mm, and will be used in mobile phones with GPS functions to orient streetmaps according to which directin the user is facing.

According to a report by IMS Research, there will be nearly 500 million mobile TV users around the world in just five years’ time. They reckon that once people see other people’s handsets showing mobile TV, they’ll want one themselves, with the devices effectively providing their own viral marketing.

The Sony Ericsson W300i is a low end mobile phone that’s now available in most areas. Although it doesn’t have great camera or video features, it has superb audio qualities, as it’s another of Sony Ericsson’s Walkman models.

Sony Ericsson have a new clamshell phone on the way - the Sony Ericsson Z610i. As these leaked pictures show, it’s an ordinary looking clamshell, and apparently comes with 2 megapixel camera, 265,000 colour TFT screen, and M2 memory card slot. So, nothing spectacular then.

Leaked pictures have emerged of BlackBerry’s forthcoming Blackberry 8100 camera phone. Famed for its business-specific devices that provide instant access to email, BlackBerry have decided to move into the consumer market with the development of the 8100, the company’s first full-blown mobile phone.

Mobile phone theft is a big problem these days, but Orange think they have the problem licked with an innovative solution - a mobile phone that screams when stolen. If your phone is stolen, you call orange’s new Synchronica Mobile Manager service (sold for an extra £10 per month), which then wipes all the data on the stolen mobile, and causes the mobile to emit a ringtone which apparently sounds just like a human screaming. At last, a real use for ringtones!

Nokia is huge. Everyone knows it’s the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturer, and so that automatically makes it huge. But how huge is huge? Well, try getting your head around these figures:

Yet another pic of the ‘Apple iPhone’ has emerged, though again, whether this is real or just fan-boy mock ups is hard to tell. This particular picture shows the iPhone being called the ‘iChat Mobile’, which as names go, is simply pants - let’s hope Apple stick with iPhone.

T-Mobile have announced that their Web ‘n Walk mobile Internet service will cost no more than £1 a day and will offer unlimited Internet access on your mobile. Each kilobyte of data costs just 1p initially, but once you’ve hit £1’s worth in 24 hours, well…you just keep on using the Internet, and T-Mobile stops charging you! Very generous of them!

Nokia have come up with an interesting gimmick application to help drive sales of their Nokia N93 - an N93 Golf Edition special edition handset, featuring a golf application that can apparently improve your game.
